Parent and Carer In-depth Interview Report, Sparken Hill Academy, Nottinghamshire, 2016.

“The training with Julie was very down to earth because a lot of it, because it’s so new it could be quite challenging, and almost a little bit threatening really, the way she delivered it was kind of, I can’t really describe it, just really very matter of fact about it. She’s just someone you can relate to, so it didn’t feel airy-fairy.”
Anne, Local Resident and participant in the ‘Take Five in the Community’ Project.

Parent and Carer In-depth Interview Report, Sparken Hill Academy, Nottinghamshire, 2016.

This report provides information on the impact of a ‘Take Five in the community’ programme at Sparken Hill Academy, Manton, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, through in-depth interviews and testimonies and shares the amazing journeys and often profound experiences of the participants of the programme in the summer of 2016.

The programme was designed by Each Amazing Breath CIC and local residents of Manton in 2015, with the aim to allow local residents to have tailored access to some of the Take Five practices that were already happening in local schools and funded by Health Education England, Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood Community Safety Partnership and Comic Relief.

The in-depth interviews share deeply personal and moving stories from 3 of the 6 participants of the programme 6 months on, showing the long term impacts on them and their families and include moving quotes such as:

  • “...its like...like freedom..”
  • “I’m grounded, I’m safe, I’m comfortable.”
  • “It’s just calmed the whole house down.”
  • “You sort of slow down for a minute and think about what’s happening and what’s important.”

The report finds that each individual interviewed experienced their own personal transformation or ‘shift’ in perception and learned valuable tools to help them ease anxiety, the burden of worry and day-to-day stress and reported better relationships with their children/grandchildren and improved sleep.

Each Amazing Breath are confident that those who read this report will feel privileged to read the stories of people who have been willing to share, in such an open and courageous way, their journey with this groundbreaking programme, which drew upon co-founder Mark Lilly’s 25 year background of working with trauma and people from challenging backgrounds, alongside one of our most experienced trainers, Julie Christian’s expertise, who bought to life this exceptional programme.
